Meet Temika

Temika Hampton-Johnson is a dedicated attorney, public servant, and community advocate with over a decade of experience protecting rights, solving problems, and upholding the law. A proud graduate of Florida A&M University College of Law, Temika’s career has spanned courtrooms, boardrooms, and community meeting halls.

Most recently, she has had the privilege to serve as General Attorney for the Social Security Administration’s Office of General Counsel, where she provides legal guidance on labor and employment matters, complex litigation, contracts, and compliance, ensuring fairness and accountability in government operations. Temika is a committed community lawyer who has served as a family law attorney, helping families navigate significant life moments with heart and trusted sound guidance; as an Assistant Public Defender, protecting the rights of indigent clients; and has represented workers in discrimination and harassment cases before the EEOC.

Temika is running for Circuit Court Judge to ensure that every person who enters the courtroom is treated with dignity and receives equal justice under the law. She has seen the judicial system from nearly every angle imaginable, and that perspective is essential for a fair and effective judge.

Because of this, she doesn’t see cases in isolation. She understands how decisions ripple through families, workplaces, and communities and how different systems interact, sometimes imperfectly, in people’s lives. A judge must see the full picture. She does.

Experience

Most notably, Temika has served as the Executive Director and General Counsel of the Orange Education Support Professionals Association (OESPA) for seven years and Staff Attorney for the Orange County Classroom Teachers Association (OCCTA) for three years, where she fought for fair treatment, safe workplaces, and equitable collective bargaining rights for over 20,000 Orange County teachers, nurses, bus drivers, custodians, food-service workers, and other education professionals.

Experience

Temika has served as:

  • An Assistant Public Defender, protecting the constitutional rights of indigent clients
  • A probation and parole officer, supervising individuals facing serious charges
  • A military police officer, understanding discipline, accountability, and public safety
  • A family law attorney, helping families navigate deeply personal and life-altering moments
  • A community and labor lawyer, advocating for fair treatment, safe workplaces, and equitable collective bargaining rights for over 20,000 Orange County teachers, nurses, bus drivers, custodians, food-service workers, and other education professionals.

 

Guided by the values of integrity, fairness, and respect, Temika is running for Circuit Court Judge in Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit to ensure that every person who enters the courtroom is treated with dignity and receives equal justice under the law.

Outside of her professional life, Temika is a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who believes in faith, family, and service. She brings not only legal experience to the bench, but also the lived experience, compassion, and common sense our community deserves.
